Defeating Major Enemies Part 1

God has shown me some things about defeating major enemies that I want to take a few weeks and share with you. I Peter 5:5-11 will be our first text to consider.

I Peter 5:5-11
Likewise, younger ones, be subject to older ones; and all of you be subject to one another. Put on humility, because God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all you care upon him; for he cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: but resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, the One calling you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, He Himself will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen

God tells us to put Him and His Word first and depend on Him for all our needs. Get yourself and your problem under God's mighty hand!

Deuteronomy 8: 1 says, “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers.” Before any thing comes against you, you must have an established relationship with God in Jesus Christ. You must depend on His Holy Spirit to teach and guide you through what is coming against you. You must know and act on God’s word to receive all that you need. Everything that God does He does through His word.

I Peter 5:5-11 tells us the first steps that we need to do to defeat any problem that comes against us. In our relationship to God we must humble ourselves, hear and obey God in and for every thing. Since we have the authority on earth, God needs our permission to work on our behalf in any situation. When we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, the hand of God that delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, we can know that God will be working on our behalf, because we have asked, given Him the right to operate on the earth on our behalf. Once we are under His mighty hand, we are to cast ALL our cares/anxieties upon Him because He cares for us. Again, when man asks/gives permission for God to act on their behalf, God is able to step in and act on man’s behalf.

Next post, we will look at Psalms 91:1-2 as it relates to the above.
