Who is the Real God? Elohim & Jehovah

To answer the question, "Who is the Real God?", one must look to Genesis 1. In the Hebrew language names are used to describe something about the person/thing that has that name. The only name used for God in the first chapter of Genesis is "Elohim" - the One who is in covenant relationship. God is a covenant God. He makes covenants with people. This is He promises people that He will do something or He will do something if they will do something. God always does what He says that He will do because He honors His covenants and God can not lie and His Word is truth.

In Genesis 2 God presents the second name that tells us about God. God is LORD or Jehovah. The God who is who He is. Jehovah is truth, righteous, and justice. God is the standard, sets the standard, and does or judges according to the standard.

For example, when God says that He is the LORD that heals you, you know that He is in covenant relationship and that if we do our part, God will do His part in healing. (see Exodus 15:26)

When God says that something is sin, it is sin for all. God punishes all sin. Jesus came to take all our punishment for all sin and give us peace with God.

Healing is part of the Atonement - Jesus dying on the Cross for our sins.
