Defeating Major Enemies Part 1A

Last post we begin to discuss how to defeat major physical attacks. The information also can be used in every area of one's life.

First a person must know without a doubt that God loves them and always is working for their best. Then a person must get themselves and their probem in God's hand. Psalms 91:1-2 cofirms what we learned in I Peter 5:5-7.

Psalms 91:1-2

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

When we dwell in the presence (under His mighty hand) of the Most High (the only true God), we will abide (stay) under the Almighty's presence and resources. We will say and confess that the LORD (who is truth, righteous, and just) is our refuge and fortress (our protection). Our God (one who is constantly in covenant relation- ship with us)is the one whom we can trust.

In summary, when we put God first and stay under His protection, He will provide all we need to defeat any problems that come our way. When we try to fight our own battles with our own resouces, we are limiting our available resources.

Our weapons through God are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. II Cor 4-6

Defeating Major Enemies Part 1

God has shown me some things about defeating major enemies that I want to take a few weeks and share with you. I Peter 5:5-11 will be our first text to consider.

I Peter 5:5-11
Likewise, younger ones, be subject to older ones; and all of you be subject to one another. Put on humility, because God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all you care upon him; for he cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: but resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, the One calling you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, He Himself will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen

God tells us to put Him and His Word first and depend on Him for all our needs. Get yourself and your problem under God's mighty hand!

Deuteronomy 8: 1 says, “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers.” Before any thing comes against you, you must have an established relationship with God in Jesus Christ. You must depend on His Holy Spirit to teach and guide you through what is coming against you. You must know and act on God’s word to receive all that you need. Everything that God does He does through His word.

I Peter 5:5-11 tells us the first steps that we need to do to defeat any problem that comes against us. In our relationship to God we must humble ourselves, hear and obey God in and for every thing. Since we have the authority on earth, God needs our permission to work on our behalf in any situation. When we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, the hand of God that delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, we can know that God will be working on our behalf, because we have asked, given Him the right to operate on the earth on our behalf. Once we are under His mighty hand, we are to cast ALL our cares/anxieties upon Him because He cares for us. Again, when man asks/gives permission for God to act on their behalf, God is able to step in and act on man’s behalf.

Next post, we will look at Psalms 91:1-2 as it relates to the above.

Jesus Saved Me Part XVII

In Jesus we are blessed with every spiritual blessing from God.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Eph 1:3

* He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
* Predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself
* He made us accepted in the Beloved.
* In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins
* He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth- in Him.
* In Him we have obtained an inheritance,
* (Our salvation experience) Being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
* In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation;
* in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
* Exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead
* Seated Him at His right in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
* And He made all things under His feet
* Gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
* you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins
* But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
* raised us up together,
* made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
* For grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
* For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Eph 1:3-23 & 2:1-10

Jesus Saved Me Part XVI

Prosperity

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that through He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
II Cor 8:9

Like everything that Jesus did for us, He became poor so that we might become rich. In Jesus God blessed us with every spiritual blessing int the heavenly places Ephesians 1:3 Jesus defeated every things that could ever defeat us.

Jesus Saved Me Part XV

Healing

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isa 53:4-5

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast our the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying; “He “Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Matt 8:16-17

And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put our His hand and touched him, saying, “ I am willing; be cleaned.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matt 8:2-4

…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness –by whose stripes you were healed. I Pet 2:24

In Isaiah 53:4-5, Isaiah prophesied concerning the Messiah. In Matt 8:16-17, Matthew provided a New Testament commentary on Isaiah. Jesus healed all and fulfilled Isaiah 53:4-5. Jesus took our infirmities and carried away our sicknesses. Jesus came to save (sozo = completely in every way)us from anything that would defeat us- wrath of God, sin, sickness, poverty, and death.

Jesus Saved Me Part XIV

Dominion/Authority

Jesus gave us authority as a member of His body to "tread over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any mean hurt you." Luke 10:19 In Jesus Christ YOU have the authority.

And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Eph 1:22-23

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:9-11

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matt 28:18-20

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. I John 4:4

Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My Name they will cast our demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. Mk 16:14-18

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom 8:37

“Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

God says that His Kingdom rules over all (Psalms 103:19)but God has given authority to man to rule the earth. (Psalms 115:16) God is not like a person that gives a man a job and then watches over their shoulder to make sure they do it properly. God gives man an assignment and all things they will need to complete the assignment, including full authority. Mans'decisions, not God's, brings success or failure.

Jesus Saved Me Part XIII

Jesus defeated the devil

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bandage. Heb 2:14-15

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifest, that He might destroy the works of the devil. I John 3:8

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Col 2:15

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. I John 5:18

James 4:7
I Pet 5:8-9

Jesus Christ defeated the devil. The devil has no power except what we give him through our agreeing with him. The devil uses words, thoughts, suggestion to try to get us to agree with him. When we agree with him, we act contrary to God's Word. For example, like his conversation with Eve, he suggested that God was holding out good things on Eve, Eve agreed with the devil by acting on his suggestion.

Jesus Saved Me Part XII

From power of darkness into Kingdom of His Son

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us in the kingdom of
the Son of His love in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness
of sins. Col 1:13-14

Jesus Saved Me Part XI

Child of God

For as many as are led by the Sprit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not
receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together with him. Rom 8:14-17

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for your are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Gal 3:26-29

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying our, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, then as heir of God through Christ. Gal 4:4-7

Behold what manner of love the Father bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. I John 3:1-3

If I have accepted Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior, I am a member of God's family, a child of God, and a joint heir with Jesus. All God has is mine.

Jesus Saved Me Part X

Redeemed from the Curse

Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, for seeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Gal 3:7-9

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”) that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Gal 3:13-14

Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 tells the blessings. Sickness and poverty are not in the list.

Jesus Saved Me Part IX

New Creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Cor 5:17

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. Gal 6:15

I have been crucified with Christ; it in no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2:20

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Col 2:9-10

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. Col 3:9-11

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust. Rom 13:14

And of His fullness we have received, and grace for grace. John 1:16
And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of
righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you.
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His
Spirit who dwells in you. Rom 8:10-11

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. I Cor 6:17

For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. I Cor 2:16

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of
judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. I John 4:17

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught
by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: That you put off, concerning your former conduct,
the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in
the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which was created
according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Eph 4:20-24

And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam
became a life-giving spirit. I Cor 15:45

In Christ we are new creations, a new species of being that has never been before. The old sin nature died on the cross with Jesus. The flesh is the unrenewed mind that still wants to think the same old way. Once the mind is renewed, the thinking changes and also our actions.

Jesus Saved Me Part VIII

Righteous before God

“In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you…. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me.” Isa 54:14-15, 17

For He made Him who knew no who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Rom 5:21

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Rom 5:17

And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom 8:10-11

Because of what Jesus Christ did for us, we are always in right standing before God. Any sin in our lives does not hinder our relationship to God but opens the door for evil to work in us. (Romans 6:6 & 6:16) The Holy Spirit will convict us of sin in our lives. (John 16:8-11)
